Wellington Regional Primary and Intermediate Cross-country Championships 2008

The Wellington Regional Cross-country championships were held at Harcourt Park, Upper Hutt on 1 July. The fog encompassing the area lifted before the start of the first race and were run in fine sunny conditions.    The races were closely fought with some excellent individual performances . From the results a team was selected for the inter-regional Championships to be hosted by Wellington in September. The success of the event can only be contributed to the  volunteers from Activation Upper Hutt , Athletics Wellington,  Rimutaka Harriers Club, St Patricks College Silverstream, Sport Wellington Region, Sport Wellington Region ambassadors, and the team managers and recorders from the competing sporting organisation.  Results   Photos

Interzone Cross-country 2008

The Interzone Cross-country Championships were held at Newtown Park in fine but breezy conditions. The course was challenging with several hills and differing terrain.  Over 550 runners from Year 4 – 8, including athletes with disabilities, competed with the top ten in each of the races selected to compete at the Wellington Regional Primary and Intermediate Cross-Country Championships at Harcourt Park on 1 July 2008.

2008 Wellington Regional Schools Cross-country

The Wellington Regional Primary and Intermediate School Cross-country is to be held at Harcourt Park on 1 July (postponement 3 July). Ten sporting organisations from within the Wellington Region have been invited to enter teams  and up to 1000 runners   in Years 4 – 8 will compete for both individual and team honours.

Wellington Schools Cross Country Team Wins  21st September
The  Wellington team of 47 athletes ( across 8 grades) has performed spectacularly in the Central New Zealand Inter-Provincial cross country, for Primary and Intermediate Schools teams.Our teams won 5 of the 8 team events and collected the “Phil Costley” shield for the over-all top team, (previously held by Canterbury). The teams also won a lot of individual medals. In fact they “medalled” in 7 of the 8 events, with one trifecta!

2007 Wellington Regional Schools Cross Country  4th July
A very successful event was held today, Primary Sport Wellington was again pleased to have been able to co-ordinate and manage the event. It’s success was largely due to the quality and quantity of the helpers who volunteered to assist. The children won’t have realised it, but every one of the 5 judges from Athletics Wellington, in the finish shute, were nationally ranked and qualified, and one was world ranked, as one of the handful of members of the International Cross Country Committee!  Results and Photos
